Subject: CNC Lathe Conversion-Dynomotion Recommendations
Hi all. I am going to be converting a Clausing 12x24" 5900 series lathe to CNC. Rather than piece mealing components from several vendors, I'd like to stick with one vendor and matched components to eliminate incompatibilites. That's why I'm here. Here is what I plan to do

2 axis control
Electro Craft DC Brush Servos with Renco encoders
One toroidal transformer power supply 81VDC 565 Watt after rectification.
Teco Westinghouse Sensorless VFD driving a 2hp 1750 RPM motor
Encoder for the spindle for threading (any recommendations that will work well with the Dynomotion products?)

I have a pneumatic tool changer, it is actuated in one direction by an air cylinder, so eventually, I'd like to add that.

Flood coolant

Recommendations on which Dynomotion products to use? From what I have read:
1 KFLOP and 1 SNAP AMP

With those two, will that handle my I/O needs or will I also need KANALOG as well?

Does Dynomotion have their own GUI or do I need to involve MACH III?

Any specials running right now? :-)

Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention that I will also want a manual pulse generator (also looking for recommendations for this, I will likely build it into my own panel/console)
TIA

Hi Marty,

KFlop+SnapAmp looks like a good fit, but unfortunately we don't yet support threading.  The User that we were working with to debug it had to move his shop.  We've cut some threads and have some code ready for testing.  If anyone would be willing to test please let me know.  Pretty much any spindle encoder should work.

Thanks
